WAKING UP to a balcony full of succulents in the heart of LA was a dream come true. India is lucky enough to have a renown photographer,Robert, and hairstylist,Ginger, as long time family friends, and we were lucky to be able to stay in their chic apartment for the weekend. The Sunset Strip music festival was our main activity this weekend, but the details in the downtime are just as important.
Day one: Woke up to french pressed coffee and overast skies. We drove down to Ginger’s salon and hung out on the rooftop, overlooking melrose and watching the cars go by. Hunger overtook us, and we wandered down Melrose and went to Urth for lunch, which starts with a chai and end with a berry tart. There are so many details to notice in LA, from small flowers growing in cracks to lines of graffiti tucked into alleyways and parking lots. The whole city is a museum if you look hard enough.
Day two: When we are together, our days are always long. Even though we were on the Sunset Strip until late the previous night, we still woke up at the crack of dawn to try and seize every moment and opportunity we had together. We got in the cherry red mini cooper and drove down to Santa Monica, blasting old 80s rock songs that we somehow knew all the words to. We walked up and down third street promenade, and had to stop at hummus express. We saw a dance crew perform by the pier and India held a 180 pound snake for ten bucks.
